Thurston High School Shooting: May 21, 1998 - My daughter and son were in daycare and the daycare and the high school shared a fence. A kid with a gun killed his parents the night before and a few kids at school the following day. You can imagine my panic when I heard over the radio that there was an active shooter situation at the high school as my children were less than 100 yards from the school.
Clackamas Town Center Shooting: December 11, 2012 - I was pulling into the parking lot of the mall when people started rushing out of the mall with a shooter inside.
Las Vegas Shooting: October 1, 2017 - We were driving from Palm Springs to Las Vegas when the shooting at the music festival took place. If we would have decided to drive up the day before we could have easily been at that concert.
